If you’ve been considering upgrading to wheels with carbon rims, you’ve most likely realized that it’s not a cheap exercise. For the month of June, we’ve managed to get a good deal on some parts which, combined, make for a killer wheelset at a very decent price point.
The set consists of e*thirteen TRSr carbon rims which are 28mm wide internally and weigh in at 422g each for the 29-inch version, DT Swiss 350 hubs, in either standard or BOOST widths. These are held together by DT Swiss Competition double-butted stainless steel spokes and brass nipples.
The rims come with a lifetime guarantee, hopefully putting paid to the concerns of going with carbon rims. The wide profile makes the most of any tyre combination, allowing you to run lower tyre pressures than with narrower rims, resulting in increased traction and comfort – especially nice when you’re a hardtail rider like me. The hubs are light, reliable and completely serviceable, with excellent after-sales backup worldwide. The double butted spokes are designed for exceptional fatigue resistance, light weight and ultimate reliability.
