Last week the Cape Town based bicycle component and accessory brand, cSixx, announced that it would be releasing new carbon rims suitable for road, CX and gravel use. This comes at a time when there are few, if any, local options for road cyclists looking to replace or upgrade their wheels with something special, without having to import stuff from overseas. I have first-hand experience with their carbon mountain bike rims and will attest to the awesome quality and excellent finish of these rims. CSixx also offer custom decals so that your rims match the rest of your bike’s colour scheme.
Details are sketchy at the time of me writing this, but some pre-production photos have been teasing us on social media.
There’s been an increase of late in the popularity of disc-brake road and “gravel” bikes, such as the Santa Cruz Stigmata pictured above. Bikes like these are touted to offer “allroad” capability, from fast road rides to all-day gravel road exploring expeditions. At last, riders of these kind of bikes have an upgrade path for their wheels and local is lekker.
Once more info is available and these rims are available to purchase, I’ll do a more detailed article and hopefully a full build review.
