Something that affects us in cycling is the availability of carbon components made in Asia. Due to preventative measures against the COVID-19 virus, availability of carbon rims is an unknown quantity at this stage.
At the time of writing, no freight of carbon rims from Nextie or Light Bicycle has left China on the way to South Africa since before the Chinese New Year holidays at the end of January.
I’m recommending to all of my clients who want custom-made carbon wheels to consider the offerings of South Industries. This South African company makes their rims in Cape Town and they’re really, really nice.
