Some new toys are coming soon

One of my favourite brands in mountain biking, WTB, has just announced some cool new “TCS 2.0” rim and tyre options which will be available in South Africa before the end of the year.

Tyres

The new tyre models are the Judge, Trailboss and Vigilante – now in wider widths to cater for the “let’s go wider” trend. Click here for more info.

Rims

The new rim models are the KOM Light and the KOM Tough.

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

The Light version is optimised for light weight for the best racing performance. The Tough version is built for bashing, enduro and laden bike-packing and optimised for durability at a fair weight.

The KOM light comes in at 450g for the 25mm inner width version and the Tough model at 538g for the 29mm version. Notice the extra “i-beams” in the Tough rim cross-section, adding a great deal of strength.

Early info is that these will come in at an affordable price, which is good news.

These new rims are part of the new TCS 2.0 system from WTB, but it remains to be seen if the rim strips and flex tape will also be available locally, although WTB says these new rims are compatible with standard tape and sealant systems too.
