If you need to adjust your gears and really want to do it yourself, here’s how you should approach the task:

Once you’ve identified the limit screws and set them correctly by running the derailleur through the gears by pushing it by hand and checking the travel, connect the shifter cable and run the chain through the gears.

NB! Once the limit screws are set, don’t touch them again. They’re only there to prevent the chain from going into the spokes or getting jammed between the frame and cassette.
