OK, maybe I’ve jumped the gun. You may be interested in the possibility of having a custom wheel set built. Great!
Some indicative pricing:
- The labour charge is R695 per wheel to do the build (the process is outlined here)
- Hubs and rims vary wildly in price
- A good alloy rim for a 29er will cost anything between R1 500 and R2 500 (or slightly more) each
- A set of hubs can be as little as R3 000 or as much as R10 000 or more, depending on what you choose. (The most popular are around R5 000-7 000 for the set)
- There are various spoke options available – j-bend and straight pull, round (double butted), and bladed/flattened.

- Upon completion I’ll send you some photos whereupon you pay the outstanding balance and once received I’ll ship out the wheels by courier
