New wheels are a great way to upgrade, while keeping your bike for a few more years.
We all get the upgrade itch and yearn for a new bike, even though there’s not really anything wrong with the one we have. Right?
Channel that inner FOMO and consider the advantages that a new set of wheels may offer:
- Upgrading your wheels is less expensive than upgrading to a new bike
- Lighter weight wheels (means better climbing and acceleration)
- Wider rims (means better traction and comfort)
- Modern design (means better road and MTB tubeless performance, and 12-speed drivetrain compatibility)
- More durable rims and hubs (means less trailside frustration and bike shop repair bills)
Most people also appreciate the aesthetic possibilities – yes, new wheels can make your bike look way better!
With new wheels, your bike will look and handle like new (or better) without having to invest in a new bike (which comes with mediocre wheels anyways)
Another plus is that when you do decide to ditch the old ride for a new one, chances are good that you can keep your custom wheels for use on your new bike.
If you’re a road cyclist, think about upgrading to wheels with a more aerodynamic profile. This WILL make you faster as you’ll use fewer watts to maintain speed.
If you’re a mountain biker, think about upgrading to wheels which are much lighter than stock, or have wider rims, which will improve handling, traction and comfort.
Just think about it 🙂
